Shiatsu massage or therapy seeks to balance the body’s energy using fingers, palms, elbows, knees and feet to contact acupressure points and meridians.

During a Shiatsu session the shiatsu practitioner stretches and mobilises the joints to unblock the energies. As the energies flow throughout the body, it creates a feeling of stillness and peace and is deeply relaxing and energising.

It works on physical, mental and emotional levels to heal. So whether you feel down, feel stressed, or anxious, or you experience stiffness, or other physical discomforts like neck or back pain, shiatsu can heal.

When you come for a shiatsu treatment wear loose comfortable clothing. It is a fully clothed massage or treatment, given on a futon on the floor.

Shiatsu helps the body to detoxify. It would be a good idea to drink plenty of water before and after a session to helps flush toxins.


Working on a Yin point

After treatment you should feel relaxed. If you feel tired after treatment, it’s because your muscles are relaxing, you release toxins and your sympathetic nervous system is been mobilised. A day after the treatment people usually feel more energized.

The treatments last for about one hour. We can arrange shorter sessions depending on the need.
